January 6, 2022
Dear Amazing Y Members,
First and foremost, on behalf of all of us at our wonderful YMCA, we want to wish you a very Happy New Year. We are all hopeful that 2022 will bring you hope, happiness, health, heart and harmony. We are calling this the 5 H’s of our Y this year.
It has been a very difficult and tumultuous past two years. I am so proud of the Y staff for their dedication and hard-work to ensure we serve the needs of our community in the best way possible. We are so appreciative for your continued support of our Y and your flexibility in adjusting to new practices and protocols as a result of COVID. It has taken all of us together to do the right thing and we are glad you are on our Y Team.
As many of you all know, our community is facing a serious labor shortage, and our beloved Y is not exempt from this. We have shortages in so many of our departments due to illnesses and lack of staff and have been unable to find candidates. This has caused significant issues for us, especially in our Aquatics Department. As a result, we have determined we will need to reduce our hours of service by only a few hours in our two pools for safety reasons. We will resume normal hours once we are able to find and train staff.
We understand that these closures will create some inconvenience, and please know that we are actively working to building our staff up to be able to handle our regular scheduled hours of operation.
Below are the pools closures, and when they will be implemented.
Aloupis Pool Closures starting January 18, 2022:
Monday – Thursday — 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Means Pool Closures starting January 11, 2022:
Tuesday and Thursday — 5:30 AM – 7:45 AM
Thank you for your understanding. Please don’t hesitate to email me if you have any questions or email Shawn Rich, our Aquatics Manager. And, if you know of anyone who is interested in being a lifeguard, we will pay for their certification and put them to work immediately.
Kindest Regards,
Diane Dickerson, CEO
