SPRINT TRIATHLON COURSE

Swim – 750 Meters (0.47 miles)
The Bangor YMCA Open Swim Course will be an in-water start on Branch Lake with our triathletes divided into large heats. The venue at the Wilderness Center will feature clearly marked buoys, multiple lifeguards in watercraft, and the clear, exciting water a lake swim brings!

Bike – 12.4 miles
The Bangor YMCA Bike Course will be on the hilly dirt roads around Branch Lake. This is an “Old School” event! Before Tri-bikes existed, a triathlon was raced on road bikes, street bikes, or hybrid bikes, so leave your fancy Tri-bike at home! And bring your spring-trainer beater-road bike, your hybrid-bike, your cyclocross bike, or your mountain bike! This is NOT for nice bikes. The bike portion is on some paved roads but mostly dirt, so leave your skinny tires at home!

Run – 3.1 miles
The Bangor YMCA Run Course will be a 5k distance through the woods.

SPRINT DUATHLON COURSE

Run – 1.55 miles
The Bangor YMCA Run Course will be a 2.5k distance through the woods

TRANSITION ZONE

The Transition Zone will open at 6:00am on the morning of the race and will close about 15 minutes before the start of the race.

The bike racks will have your race number. Place your bike on the side of the rack that your number is located.

During the race, only volunteers and race management are allowed in the Transition Zone. Only athletes who have started the race may enter, while those who have completed the race may only return to Transition when the last athlete has started the run portion.

RELAY TEAMS

Tri for the Y relay teams are made up of two or three people. Each person is required to do at least one leg of the race. Tag-offs will be required of the relay teams at Transition. The cyclist is not allowed to take his/her bike off the rack until the swimmer or runner has tagged the cyclist. The runner can not be tagged by the cyclist until the cyclist has re-racked his/her bike.
