The Bangor Region YMCA offers Babysitter’s Training Course for teens to help families in need of childcare during COVID-19 at a 50% Discount

March 16, 2020

The Bangor Region YMCA is well aware of the stress the COVID-19 is having on families. One critical area is childcare for those children whose parents must continue working. Even though several childcare centers are remaining open to serve families in need, including the Y, many parents would prefer to keep their children home with an in-home sitter. Therefore, The Bangor Region YMCA is providing its American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Course for interested teens and adults who want to help during this crisis and be well prepared. This course also includes CPR and First Aid Certification. The first two scheduled courses will be offered on Friday, March 20th, and Friday, March 27th. Both will be held in the Isaac Farrar Mansion at the Y from 9:00am – 5:30pm. Courses will only be run if 3 – 9 teens are registered, following the current CDC guidelines for the maximum of 10 people in a group. The 10th person will be the Y’s Certified Babysitter Training Instructor.

“We want to help families and our community as much as possible during this crisis,” says Diane Dickerson, CEO of The Bangor Region YMCA. “By providing them with trained babysitters we’ll hopefully ease some of the anxiety. This is an expensive course to run but we are giving a 50% discount to all participants during this challenging time.”

Cost: $115 → $57.50 (includes American Red Cross Certificate of Completion)
