Certified Personal Trainer
I have been involved in health and fitness in some capacity for decades. As a child, I was always active and played sports, such as baseball and football, which continued into my teenage years. After experiencing injuries to my right hip and lower back, I became increasingly aware of how poor my balance and overall mobility were. This motivated me to learn more about the human body and how it is designed to move.
I started working for the Bangor Region YMCA as a Personal Trainer back in July 2021. However, my experience with the YMCA dates back to 2018 when I worked at the Waldo County YMCA in Belfast, doing everything from working the front desk to custodial and maintenance work.
I’ve always had a passion for health and fitness, dating back to when I was in high school, and achieved my goal of becoming a Certified Personal Trainer in November 2020. In the spring of 2021 I became a Certified Nutritionist and a Certified Health Transformation Specialist.
I have an associate’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Maine at Augusta and have been involved in customer service for more than 30 years. Most notably, I managed a health club in my hometown of Augusta, Maine, from 2002 to 2007. I also ran my own personal assistant business from 2007 to 2020. Some of my hobbies include reading, gardening, and doing anything related to personal development.
My Training Philosophy:
My training philosophy is based upon what I call “torso training”… training the body from the shoulders down through the hips. I coach my clients in everything from improving their strength, flexibility, mobility, and balance.
