Ryan Hodgdon Senior Facilities Associate

With a deep-rooted connection to the YMCA and a passion for outdoor work and youth development, Ryan brings a unique blend of hands-on expertise and heart to his role as Senior Facilities Associate at the Bangor Region YMCA. His daily work focuses on maintaining the function, cleanliness, and safety of all Y properties, especially the cherished Camp Jordan, while also planning for future improvements to create spaces that inspire, protect, and serve.

Before joining the YMCA, Ryan gained valuable experience in commercial construction and property maintenance, as well as managing his own detailing business. Now, with over five years of experience managing Bangor Y Camp facilities and two years in his current role, he continues to lead with creativity, commitment, and a drive to make a lasting difference.

Ryan thrives when he’s outside, working with his hands, and building environments that help kids and young adults grow in confidence, skills, and community. His connection to the Y runs deep, his mother has been part of the organization for over 30 years, and many of his closest mentors and friends are among the Y’s staff. He credits leaders like Al Soucy, Dave Kneeland, and James Nickerson for shaping his work ethic and approach.

Outside of work, Ryan is a lifelong athlete and nature lover. Whether it’s basketball, snowboarding, hiking, camping, or fishing in the Maine wilderness, he finds peace and challenge in movement and the outdoors. A former cliff diver, Ryan once held the world record for the highest single front flip into water at 112 feet. His travels across the country diving with friends helped him create content that inspired and connected with a wide audience online.

Born in Sanford, Maine and shaped by a childhood spent moving across six different states, Ryan brings a broad, open perspective to every environment he enters. Respect is the value he holds closest, believing it to be the foundation for meaningful relationships and strong communities. It’s no surprise then that his favorite quote is by Henry David Thoreau, “Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.”
