Join Caring Connections and Margaret Rieley, MD, ABMG, for a talk about Genetics and Cancer. Dr. Rieley specializes in the role inherited genetic changes have in our health. She has been working with EMMC Cancer Care since early 2014.
About 5 to 10 percent of cancers have an association with an inherited risk. At this time testing is most commonly available for breast, colon, melanoma, ovarian, pancreatic, prostate and uterine cancers. When a change associated with an increased cancer risk is identified in a person diagnosed, it can help direct their care. Other family members can be tested and if they carry the same gene change, develop screening plans to help identify any potential cancers at the earliest possible stage.
To RSVP or for more information, please contact Caring Connections at 941-2808 x 338.
Light refreshments will be served.
