Dear Friend of the Y Foundation,
For 158 years, the Bangor Region YMCA has been Lifting People and Strengthening Community and has become one our region’s most critical assets. It is a place that serves all people from babies to older adults. In my own family, my dad, my own children and I were well served by the Y throughout each of our lives.
Sixty-four years ago, 16 extraordinary visionaries started the Bangor Y Foundation to ensure the Y would forever be able to meet the needs of our growing community — they knew the importance of providing stable and permanent support for capital needs of the Y.
The funds raised for the Foundation are invested for long-term growth and is managed by the Y’s extraordinary Investment Committee who is doing an excellent job in managing the funds.
The Foundation has a very different purpose than the Y’s Annual Giving Campaign, which provides financial assistance for those in need during the year and helps take care of the day-to-day operations. The Foundation is the one entity that helps to cover the essential capital needs of the Y.
As President of the Foundation, I ask you to join us this year in supporting the building of our new 82,000 square foot, state-of-the-art Cathy Gero Bangor Region YMCA on Main Street which will enrich the lives of children and adults in this community for generations to come. Please donate to the New Y Capital Campaign in honor of the 16 founding leaders of our Foundation, or you can continue to contribute to the Bangor Y Foundation to keep it strong for generations to come.
Donors of $1,000 or more to the Capital Campaign will be listed on the donor wall in the new building. And there are Naming Rights still available for key areas of the Y. Don’t hesitate to reach out to Diane Dickerson at 745-6133 to find out more.
It is up to us to continue the mission of these 16 brilliant and fore-thinking men, and you can help leave a legacy that is worthy of our children and future generations. Join us, along with the rest of our Trustees and Contributors, by donating to New Y Capital Campaign OR make your annual donation to our Foundation.
