Our Camp G. Peirce Webber Adventure Day Camp Counselors spend their summer helping all our campers make life-long memories. Under the direction of the Adventure Day Camp Coordinator and Camp G. Peirce Webber Director, our Camp Counselors support the day-to-day programming including camper supervision, safety and licensing compliance, and sanitation. Our Adventure Day Camp program is based out of Camp G. Peirce Webber with daily field trips. Campers and counselors will come prepared each week for a day of team building, a day at Camp Jordan, hiking, swimming/beach day, and MORE!

 

We’re looking for new team members who can:

  • Provide an energetic, creative, inclusive, fun and safe camp environment supporting the exceptional camper experience.
  • Provide constant and direct supervision over campers and camp activities in support of safety and a dynamic and positive camp experience in a public setting.
  • Work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment, while reflecting a positive attitude.
  • Understand all Bangor Region YMCA policies, Camp G. Peirce Webber policies, and State of Maine Summer Camp licensing standards.
  • Meet the physical demands of a camp employee.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 21 (to drive the YMCA vehicles).
  • Must have experience in camping, recreation or related field and enjoy working with youth ages 5-12 years.
  • Must be highly responsible and meticulous regarding the safety of campers.
  • Capable of working under pressure and adapting to new situations.
  • Possesses the ability to remain calm and think critically in stressful situations.
  • Must possess effective communication skills.
  • Be willing to complete CPR / First Aid / AED certification training and all other necessary training supporting the delivery of a safe camp experience.
  • Lifeguard certified perferred.
